I’m a Conversation Truth Guide who thought the only way to market myself was as a Guru Star. I hadn’t always thought this way but had a business coach who insisted that “If you do everything I tell you, you’ll be successful. It’s those who don’t listen to me who don’t succeed.” (That’s a quote!)
I had already built reasonable success following what felt natural to me and thought, “Well, if I just do these other things, I’ll be even more successful.” So, using her formula, I produced my first 3-day live event to fill my coaching program. I had dismal attendance results but I was hopeful that my charisma would help me close a few new clients. Crickets!
I had invited Beth to attend my event and at the end of the day, she came up looking pretty worried. Inside I knew she was right: What I was doing wasn’t working at all and I probably wasn’t going to get any sales. She told me she could see that I was misaligned and could feel something was off.
She offered me some tips for a last-minute revamp of my content and on positioning my final pitch of my offer. We did all of this in a very focused 20-minute power meeting before the next day’s session!
With her help, I was able to get two new clients, but the people at the event really weren’t the right people, and those two clients didn’t stick.
I was devastated and wondered, “What is wrong with me? I used to be so successful at this.”
After the strategy she did with me I saw how misaligned I had been and I decided to become a Certified Ambassador so I could better understand how to align my marketing and the marketing of my clients.
It quickly made so much sense and I felt such relief knowing I could just be myself. The week after I completed my certification I attended a business conference as an attendee with a last-minute option to produce a break-out session about how to increase revenue in business.
It was the last day of the conference in the final hours when 80% of attendees had departed. Eight people attended my session and during the session several people asked, “How can I work with you? How much do you charge?” I was astounded.
I never even make a sales pitch. Those same people migrated to my breakfast table the next morning. It was strangely and sweetly odd, in a good way! I felt like a pied piper.
All I did was step into my primary Personal Persuasion Power — Conversation. I gave myself permission to relax and be myself!
I have several intakes scheduled with these folks and am confident I will make $36,000-$48,000 from this one event over the next few months. (WAY, WAY more than my certification investment!)
Ironically, upon my return from the conference, three random people from other areas of my life reached out to me to ask for conversations. I really don’t think this is a coincidence — it’s because now I’m ALIGNED. I can’t wait to share this with my clients. I’m so glad I followed my gut and became a Certified Ambassador.
